Fire at Sarah Palin's Church

Flammable liquid was poured around the exterior of Wasilla Bible Church before a fire began to destroy the two and a half year old building, causing over $1 million in damages. Palin was not inside or on church property during the burning.

It is presently unclear whether the arson was a result of discontent with Palin's political viewpoints or whether the arson was a statement against the church itself instead of Palin.

The blaze began a little before 9:40 p.m., which is highly unusual for arson fires, as they usually occur later in the evening when there is less likely of a chance for witnesses to be around.

Palin, the former Republican vice presidential candidate, has already apologized twice for the event, saying that she was sorry if any of the "undeserved negative attention" to the church as a result of her candidacy had any factor in the burning.

Lab tests will determine was substances were involved. Though over $1 million in damages were done, there are still large sections of the church that are unharmed. No one inside the building at the time of the fire was harmed.

Possibly the most shocking aspect of the story is the timing, as the church was burned less than two weeks away from Christmas. Whether the burning was a statement against the church or Sarah Palin's candidacy, it is a shame that some people no longer respect places of worship.

Sarah Palin for President 2012!

What are your thoughts on this event?

This is insane to have something like this happen in the land of the Free. I guess you can only be free if you have the same views as the left. Burning a house of worship for any reason should never be thought of as acceptable. Sadly I am sure there are many on the left that may think this was justified.
